I’M IN tROY’S njrotc UNIT, which is a class that teaches naval science and military drill. They also make you work out really hard. On weekends I do dragon boating, which has really helped me get to know people at Walnut High School and make new friends. I am now also a certified dragon boat steersman.

Flora Lei
Math
Walnut High School, Junior
Hello there. This is Flora, a junior at Walnut High School. I am currently in IB English HL A and AP calculus AB and pursuing the IB diploma. All of my classes are my favorites, especially since none of them require me to physically move. Why, you ask? Well, I somehow got a concussion from paddling a boat. Just imagine my performance in PE class. Reading is one of my favorite things to do because it allows me to analyze the actions and thoughts of the characters and author. When I think of interesting scenarios that I can’t seem to find in novels, I end up writing them myself. Anyways, I’ve been formally tutoring since my freshman year of high school, and I’ve always loved supporting my peers and younger kids, including my younger brother. My sessions at this moment include ELD and Math. Since I want to pursue a career in education, this experience is equally as beneficial to me as it is to the people I help.
