⭐About the Program
The CAPA WHS Free Art Tutoring Program provides a creative and supportive environment where children can explore drawing and artistic expression. The program is organized by high school student volunteers and supported by dedicated parents in the community.
Time: Every Saturday, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: Suzanne Park, Walnut Library (based on the library reservation status)

Who can join:
- Elementary and middle school students
- Children interested in drawing and creativity
- No previous art experience required
How to Join:
Step 1– Join the Wechat group
Add the Wechat ID# m_6267828771 to join the art parent communication group.
Step 2 – Weekly sign up
The WeChat group admin will post the weekly sign-up chain every Wednesday in the group, sign-up via the group chat if your child plans to attend that week’s session.
Spots are limited and will be confirmed through the weekly sign-up chain
Step 3 – Prepare for the class
Help your child choose a picture they would like to draw for the week. If possible, print the reference picture in advance (the library can only print black-and-white images).
Prepare the required drawing materials before each session and bring them to class.
Important Reminder
When sessions are held in the public library, we must respect the shared space.
Please make sure your child understands:
No loud talking
No running in the library
Children who disturb others may be asked to leave by library staff, which could affect our ability to use the library for future sessions.
Become a Volunteer Tutor
Volunteer responsibilities:
- Guide children with drawing activities
- Encourage creativity and imagination
- Help create a fun and supportive learning environment
How to Join:
Step 1 – CAPA Membership
Volunteers must be members of CAPA of Walnut High School.
Step 2 – Tryout Requirement
Students interested in becoming volunteer tutors are required to participate in a tryout/interview before joining the tutor team.
Step 3 – Registration
After passing the tryout, complete the New Tutor Sign-in Form.
Step 4 – Weekly Participation
Tutors who plan to attend a session must complete the Return Tutor Sign-Up Form each week before participating.
Step 5 – Record Volunteer Hours
After each session, volunteers are responsible for recording their own volunteer hours and submitting accurate information for verification.
Our team will verify the hours that have been submitted, but each volunteer is responsible for tracking and calculating their own total volunteer hours.

For safety purposes, all students and volunteers must submit a signed waiver form and Social Media Release Form before participating in the program.
