Free learning Intellectual Games (Saturday Session)

Overview

Founded on 2022, the Intellectual Games Program is a youth-led educational initiative co-founded by passionate high school students under the Chinese American Parent Association (CAPA). Our mission is to provide elementary-aged children with enriching weekend activities that cultivate strategic thinking, creativity, and a love for learning—through games and community connection.


Team Structure

 Leader: Fancheng (Eric) Kong
 Tutor Team Leaders: Fancheng (Eric) Kong ,Yijia Bao and Yuxinyi Wang
 Dedicated Parent Coordinators: Susan, Xiujun
 Volunteers: Middle and high school students from the local community


Objectives

      Promote critical thinking and problem-solving through structured game

      Foster empathy and leadership in student tutors

      Encourage collaboration and cross-age mentorship

      Give back to the community through creative outreach projects

      For safety reasons, parents are encouraged to stay on-site in case their child needs assistance (e.g., bathroom break or early pickup due to weather changes).

      Cards(卡牌)

      Art(绘画)

      Go(围棋)

      Gomoku(五子棋)

      Chinese Checkers (跳棋)


      Materials: Provided by CAPA and volunteers

Time: Every Saturday, 2:30PM – 4:30PM

Tutor Rules and Expectations

      Arrive 15 minutes early to help set up and plan

      Treat students with patience, encouragement, and respect

      Use kid-friendly language and positive reinforcement

      Clean up and assist with closing tasks

      Notify a parent coordinator if unable to attend
